The US Coast Guard Auxiliary operates under authority of the United States Coast Guard. The Auxiliary was founded in 1939 by an Act of Congress. The Auxiliary performs non-military, non-law enforcement tasks in support of the US Coast Guard. These tasks include such diverse activities as search and rescue, vessel examination, environmental protection, and boating education for the public.
Over 35,000 men and women, all devoted to boating safety, comprise the US Coast Guard Auxilary. It is strictly a volunteer force, whereby its members dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to make sure our waterways are safe for all.
The Auxiliary, often referred to as the civilian arm of the Coast Guard, is uniquely represented by its insignia and attire. The Auxiliary goes by the motto, semper paratus - Latin for, "always ready." The Auxiliary welcomes and encourages your service.
The work of the Division is accomplished by the leadership and volunteer labor of the Division Captain (DCP) and his Vice Captian (VCP) along with the contributions of the Division Staff Officers (SO). Meet our Division leaders on the Officers page.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is organized in units designated as Districts, Divisions, and Flotillas. Districts are comprised of Divsions and Divisions of Flotillas. Division 10 is part of District 7 and contains Flotillas 10-1, 10-2, 10-10, and 10-11. Click on our Flotillas page for information about these flotillas and their officers.
